Joseph Simpson Library Programs

The Joseph Simpson Library is open Monday-Thursday from 10AM-9PM , Friday & Saturday from 10AM-5PM, and Sunday 1-5PM.

Blood pressure screenings are held the 1st Tuesday of the month from 10AM-Noon.
Pre-registration for Children’s Programs are needed and encouraged for the other programs.
Monday, February 6, 6:30-7:30 PM Fluffy Clouds
Bring your entire family to talk about the clouds in the sky with stories and songs! There will be crafts and snacks, too! Registration is required and must be done on or before Friday, February 3
Wednesday, February 8, 1:00-2:00 P.M. Homeschool Book Discussion
Please read or listen to any book about camping (fiction or non-fiction), and be ready to share a little bit about it with our group. Have fun making a related craft and eating a yummy snack.

Thursday, February 9, 7:00-8:00 PM American Girls Club K-6
Tonight’s discussion will be about the life of Josefina in 1824 America. Come join us for crafts and a snack.

The entire family is invited to come to the library tonight for a Valentine’s Day Party. There will be valentine stories, songs and crafts. Enjoy a Valentine snack!

Bring your entire family to listen to some ‘good nutritious stories’! Don’t forget to wear your warm PJs! Come make some fun crafts and enjoy a nutritional snack.

Tuesday, February 28, 7:00-8:00 PM Activities Club for Tweens
All 10 to 12-year-old students are invited to join us at the library tonight for our ‘Electronic Appreciation’ night.

The Mechanicsburg Museum has a wide variety of events and programs coming this Fall. Following is a listing of exhibits and programs in 2012. Information will be updated regularly.
The Musem is open Wednesday-Saturday Noon-3pm
Exhibit Opens: Saturday, Feb. 11 – Mechanicsburg: “A Look at Bygone Days” at the Freight Station Exhibit features artifacts and photographs of Mechanicsburg business and industry of bygone days. Exhibit Closes: May 26

Exhibit opens: June 9 – Quilt Show & Raffle, Join us for a display of beautiful quilts at the Freight Station. We will be raffling off the “Forever Spring” Quilt which is now on display in the Passenger Station. The exhibit closes October 20.
Sun., June 17 at 2 p.m., Passenger Station – Early Days of Baseball in the 19th Century
Thurs., June 21 – Jubilee Day the Frankenberger Tavern will be open for a cooking demonstration on the open hearth, tours from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. Admission: $1.00. Tavern Dinner Raffle tickets will be on sale.

Membership in the Mechanicsburg Museum Association is very affordable and provides you with free admission to the lecture series, invitations to special events, such as exhibit opening receptions, and 6 newsletters a year. An individual/family membership is only $35 a year. Come tour our five buildings – the Passenger Station, Freight Station, the Stationmaster’s House, the Frankenberger Tavern and the Washington Street Station. All buildings have been historically restored through the generous support of our Museum members.
