Mechanicsburg Crime Watch Meeting/Reluctant Caller Tip

The Mechanicsburg Crime Watch meets the 2nd Monday of the month at the Mechanicsburg Senior Center, 97 W. Portland Street at 7PM.

Sgt. Brian Curtis is the Police Dept Liasion.  Sgt. Curtis monthly will present a look back at criminal activity in the Borough the previous month.

Each month, a special guest speaker is present.  This months program will be on guns.  Future guest speakers will be announced prior to meetings.  This is a very fast paced and informative hour with time for questions.

The following information is taken from the Mechanicsburg Borough Website.  See Police Department for Police information, monthly/yearly totals and more information.

“For those that need to call in an inncident, but do not want their information broadcast over the Police radio
net, please follow the following procedure:

The caller contacts the Dispatch Center at 238-9676 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). When the Dispatcher
answers, the caller must advise that they are a “Reluctant Complaintant.”

The Dispatcher will take the caller’s information, including name and contact information. However, that information will not be broadcast. The Police would call on the telephone later to get the contact
information. If supplemental contact with the complainant is necessary, the Police then have the information to contact the original caller. The caller’s name is not publicly known and the complaint will be checked as soon as
possible”
